Announcing EMDR Consultation Groups for Winter-Spring 2019
Do you ever:
- wish you could use EMDR with more of your existing cases?
- want to increase your technical skills in EMDR’s multiple applications?
- long to increase your confidence when doing EMDR?
- want to talk about your challenges with others using EMDR Therapy?
EMDR Group Consultation can help you accomplish each of these. I am offering EMDR consultation groups via video conferencing. There will be a series of six 2-hour group consultations that people "attend" via the internet, so your location does not matter. I will also be offering some face-to-face consultation groups based in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario during Winter-Spring 2019.
The Winter-Spring series will all be six 2-hour sessions, January to June. The cost is $30 per hour + 13% HST (12 hr = $406.80).
This is the schedule for these groups. I will show the meeting times in Eastern Time Zone. If you need assistance to convert to your time zone, click here.

About EMDR Consultation
EMDR Consultation is a professional development activity for clinicians who have at the least started Basic Training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization & reprocessing).
The purposes of EMDR Consultation are:
to hasten development of conceptual and technical skills in EMDR’s multiple applications
to learn how to incorporate EMDR into your existing clinical practice
to increase your confidence in using EMDR
to complete the 10 hours consultation required for Basic Training
to qualify to become EMDRIA Certified in EMDR
to qualify to become an EMDRIA Approved Consultant
to keep current with clinical developments in this rapidly evolving specialty
EMDR consultation can be done individually or in small groups. The consultee(s) determine the agenda based on questions/issues arising from their clinical cases. Typical agenda items include:
discussing clinical challenges
integrating EMDR into treatment plans
determining client readiness
conceptualizing the set-up for EMDR sessions
problem solving ineffective sessions
identifying red flags with client
identifying literature for further information and skill development
exploring emerging concepts and applications in EMDR practice
Currently I provide EMDR consultation via:
- face-to-face meetings or video conferencing with individuals
- face-to-face meetings or video conferencing with groups
Jim has been doing individual and group EMDR consultation since 1996.
Jim specializes in working with trauma, particularly with survivors of abuse and neglect and with motor vehicle accident injuries. He has extensive experience working on multidisciplinary teams in both Children's Mental Health Centres & Community Health Centres. Case consultation and incorporating EMDR into an existing clinical caseload are his areas of special interest. He conducted original research on current practices in EMDR consultation for which he was awarded the 2005 EMDR Canada Research Award. Jim has presented on this topic six times at the EMDR International conference and the EMDR Canada conference as part of his commitment to raising the quality of EMDR treatment provided by psychotherapists.
Jim continually strives to keep current with this evolving specialty. He has attended numerous EMDRIA International and EMDR Canada conferences since 1997. He has also attended advanced specialty workshops by Forgash, Foster, Kiesling, Kitchur, Knipe, Korn, Leeds, Parnell, Paulsen, Solomon, Steele, Wesselmann and Zangwill.
My individual consultation fees are on a sliding scale from $100-140/hr. If your “standard hourly clinical rate” is within that range, then your rate is my fee. If your rate is lower, then my fee will be $100/hr; if your rate is higher, my fee remains at $140/hr. (13% HST is added to all consultation fees.)
If you are employed by a non-profit agency, talk to me about fees. Many of my consultees' fees are paid by their agency or they use their professional development budget.
Fees for custom group consultation are a formula combining the above sliding scale factored by the number of consultees in the group. The larger the group (maximum 6 generally), the less each participant pays. Organize a group with several EMDR colleagues, save money and receive the added benefits of learning from others' experiences with EMDR.
If you want to further discuss receiving EMDR consultation, please email or phone me (519-884-8621).
